2025 Week 16
This week is proceeding Easter so we hosted a mutual friend from a long time. Mercy and I managed to clear our Schedules to give him a nice out look of the city.
There were a few other things I wish I would get to do while in Berlin. One was taking the boat tour around some area in Berlin. I've been to several areas of the city but I think this would particularly come with a different experience (and views) since I'll be on the Spree river. Another experience was a double-decker bus tour of the city. While I don't particularly feel I will get much value out of this, I think it could be a good thing to try and see which areas are new to me.
So, when our friend came, we decided to get on a boat tour with him since this is going to be new to us almost as it is new to him and the experience was quite nice. Seeing the city from a different perspective quickly reveals some interesting spots you can checkout on foot.
We also took the time to visit another mutual friend who is based in Cottbus. This is my second time in Cottbus and it better this time since I wasn't in a hurry like the last time. We managed to walk across the city and we all catchup along the way.
I haven't done a regional travel in a while but I did notice some differences in ticketing compared to the last time. Normally, there is only a person checking the passengers' tickets and sometime, people who don't have a ticket do use the stairs in the Regional trains to escape being checked. This time, there are additional people on the base of the stairs gating the coach to prevent people who might want to escape being checked. I have always wondered how this particular process of verification has evolved in Germany since you don't need scan a ticket to board the transports.
So, you can say majority of the holiday was spent hosting our friends and I can say it's good to have people from your root around as you get to think about those moments that have lead you here.
Meanwhile, I manage to move forward
Till next time, Bosun
